Medical Education and Training

Training

The Spinney Surgery is registered as a Teaching Practice and as such is committed to and is responsible for helping GP Registrars, Medical Students, Nurses and other Health Workers with their training and development.

As part of the Spinney Team's commitment to teaching, the Practice must achieve and maintain certain levels of standards that are subject to regular external examination and inspection.

These examinations and inspections are carried out by doctors who specialise in medical education, thus maintaining maximum patient confidentiality.

The practice was recently re-approved for five years.

The Spinney has been training registrars since 1978 and currently Rosemary Lane, Mark Sanderson and Janie Anderson take responsibility for the training.

The Spinney is also one of the Practices linked to the Department of General Practice at Cambridge University and has taken students since the Clinical School was founded. Sean organises the teaching of medical students which has developed to form a major part of the Spinney Practice. All the partners share this educational responsibility and it has become an enjoyable and challenging part of practice life.
