Assistant Manager - Christine Weenen

Christine joined the team in March 1994 and brought lots of experience of working for a single-handed GP practice from her earlier career. Christine joins Debra Wheatley the Managing Partner in heading up the Administration / Reception Teams and is responsible for ensuring staff are available and able to deal with patient requests for appointments, test results and other information. Christine also spends time capturing as much data as possible to ensure our computer database is up to date.

Practice Secretary - Jean Mercer

Jean joined the team in November 2001 and is our full-time practice secretary. In addition to providing a personal assistant role to the Doctors and other members of the practice team, Jean's responsibilities include processing and progressing hospital referrals the majority of which are made to Hinchingbrooke with whom we have a very good relationship. Jean also undertakes ordering, dealing with incoming mail and everything else we require!

Practice Secretary - Lorraine Stork

Lorraine also joined the team in November 2001 and works alongside Jean on a part-time basis. She too offers a personal assistant role to the team. In addition to the hospital referrals there is an enormous amount of typing and admin preparation in the surgery - guidelines and protocols being just one area that have to be kept up to date.

Reception Team

Sue Sherwin - Sue is the longest serving member of our Reception Team, having joined wayback in October 1979 and is the longest serving member of the whole Spinney team. Sue has spent the last 5 years working in our dispensary providing an excellent service to our patients living outside the St Ives area. The practice dispenses medication for about a third of its 10000 plus patients so its not difficult to imagine the amount of work Sue needs to get through each day! Sue and Gill Innes took the NVQ3 in Dispensary Services over the last year and both passed with flying colours. Sue still spends time at reception and is well known by patients and their families.

Pam Purnell - Pam is also a long serving member having joined in 1985 and has spent many years as a receptionist and repeat prescription clerk. Pam is responsible for ensuring repeat prescription requests are dealt with as quickly as possible. The workload in this area has grown and grown in latter years as have the range of drugs being prescribed. Pam also has a considerable liaison and communication role with hospitals and other pharmacies in the surrounding area.

Barbara Butler - Maternity relief cover gave us the opportunity to meet Barbara and it soon became obvious that she would be an excellent permanent member of our team. Barbara works in Reception and deals with enquiries and requests.

Jane Baldock - Jane has been a Receptionist with the practice since May 2001 having joined from Lloyds the Chemist. Jane spends the majority of her time dealing with patient appointment requests and enquiries. Jane administers our smear recall system and works very closely with Sandy Evans running the locally famous weight loss program. Jane has considerable dispensing knowledge and has become a great asset to the team.

Jane Bailey  - Jane joined the practice from Hertfordshire, where she worked at a GP surgery for 7 years. Jane supervises our recall system for patients taking drugs needing regular monitoring.

Jackie Smith - Jackie joined us as a relief receptionist for a staff member on sick leave. She now works regular sessions as a receptionist and administrator.

Gill Innes - Gill joined in May 2002 in a new role to support our dispensary. Gill works closely with Sue Sherwin and together they undertook an NVQ3 in Dispensary Services and passed with flying colours.

Administration Team

Lynne Mounteney – Lynne joined the team in October 2008 to summarise medical records for our computer system. This is no small task with the growing numbers of new patients registering every week.

Sarah Smith - The practice is required to perform many audits into the care provided to patients. Sarah has been an invaluable member of the team since 1996.

Diane McPhee - Diane joined the practice in May 2004 as our medical records clerk and administrator, preparing clinics for surgeries, and providing a support service to clinicians with notes, forms etc.
 

Tanya Smethurst - Tanya joined us as a scanning clerk. All mail is scanned on receipt and sent electronically to clinicians. Tanya also helps in reception and administration.

Cleaning Team

Melanie Jackson and Mavis Kumi-Frimpong - These ladies provide that never-ending task of ensuring the Spinney premises are kept clean and tidy. As the practice has expanded considerably over the years this is no easy task. They provide an excellent service - always cheerful and nothing proving too much trouble!
