The first Patients' Participation Group 'spin-off' started in 1987, but after an initial enthusiasm became somewhat dormant due largely to a lack of participation by patients!

We at the Spinney however have continued to try and engage patients in an awareness of their healthcare via practice leaflets, health-fairs and a quarterly Newsletter delivered to every home with a particular emphasis on consulting patients' views about NHS developments.

To re-establish the level of enthusiasm and participation of patients, a new group was established in 1995 which has flourished and organises regular educational meetings for patients.
