Training & Medical Education

GP Training

The Spinney Surgery is registered as a Teaching Practice and as such is committed to and is responsible for helping GP Registrars, Medical Students, Nurses and other Health Workers with their training and development.

Dr Anderson supervise the training but all the doctors at the surgery enjoy a teaching role and like to get involved.

The Spinney is also one of the Practices linked to the Department of General Practice at Cambridge University and has taken students since the Clinical School was founded. All doctors share this educational responsibility and it has become an enjoyable and challenging part of practice life.

  • As a patient you may be offered an appointment with a GP Registrar or medical students who will have a senior doctor supervising them. As part of their placement GP registrars may sometimes want to do video consultations for their own education, with patient consent.
  • Our reception team will ensure that you are aware of any such arrangements. Please let them know if you would prefer an alternative appointment as soon as possible, preferably when making the initial booking.

Medical Education

As a teaching practice we are responsible for helping GP Registrars, medical students, nurses and other health workers with their training. As part of our commitment to teaching, the practice has to be kept up to certain standards.

If you would like to be one of our ‘bank’ of patients who we invite to meet students, please contact the practice.
